FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS

Catholic Schools Week – The annual Catholic Schools Week celebration begins

with a Kick-Off Liturgy Sunday, January 29, followed by an Open House. It would

be a great testimony to St. Jane School if all our school families were present for

this event. Look for an itinerary of all the week’s activities to be included in

January 25th’s Wednesday Folder.

Super Bingo – The date for the Athletic Association’s Super Bingo has been

changed to Sunday, February 12, due to a conflict with “An Evening with Mary”.

Tickets with the original date have been issued and are being used for the new

date. Please mark your calendars and enjoy an afternoon with family and friends.

In addition, pull tabs, split the deck, and split the pot are being offered during

Bingo.

Paper – Each student’s supply list included a ream of copy paper, which is used for

all classroom copies. Unfortunately, all that paper has been used and there is four

months left of the 2011-12 school year. So we are requesting that any family who

is able to do so to please send a ream of paper to school. You may wish to check

the sale papers for good prices. Please know that your generosity is most

appreciated as it helps us stretch our budget.

Lent – The Lenten Season begins Ash Wednesday, February 22, with 9:30 Mass.

Ashes are to be distributed during this Liturgy. During Lent, age-appropriate

classroom activities and lessons are being planned by the teachers. The students

in Grade 6 are also looking forward to their performance of the Living Stations,

which is to be held Friday, March 30, at 1:00 and 7:00.

Pre-School – The St. Jane Pre-School is offering a Full Day Option for the

2012-2013 school year for 3 and 4 year olds. A daily half-day option (8:00-11:00)

is also going to be available. All academic skills are going to be covered during

the morning session. The afternoon session will include lunch, recess, quiet time,

and enrichment activities. The Pre-School is also moving to what is now the

Kindergarten as more space is needed to accommodate a full-day program. More

information will be available once the budget process is completed and tuition and

fees are determined. It is our hope that this new option accommodates the needs

of our families and we are looking forward to moving ahead with our youngest

students.
